Those who do not have a sufficient intake of vitamin D should take cod liver oil or another vitamin D supplement daily during periods of the year with little sun. The Scientific Committee on Food Safety concludes that the intake of omega-3 fatty acids, including from supplements and fortified foods, does not pose a risk to adverse health effects and positive health effects can be achieved.
