Shipping policy
Fast & Reliable Delivery
We ship all orders from Norway with DHL Express, so you can track your package every step of the way.
Orders are normally dispatched within 1–5 business days, depending on stock availability at the time of ordering or product availability in the market.
DHL Express deliveries usually arrive within 2–7 business days to most destinations.
Please note that delivery times are estimates only and may vary due to customs processing, carrier operations, or other factors beyond our control.
Shipping Costs
Shipping rates are automatically calculated at checkout based on:
- Your delivery address
- The total weight and volume of the products in your cart
You will see the exact shipping cost before completing your order.
Because shipping is based on both weight and volume (for example light but bulky products such as chips, crackers, and cookies), customer service is unfortunately not able to provide manual shipping quotes.
Shipping costs, duties and taxes shown at checkout are generated automatically by the e-commerce platform and connected payment providers. Norwegian Foodstore is not responsible for incorrect, delayed, or incomplete display of such costs caused by third-party systems (including Shopify, payment gateways, or currency conversion providers). Any claims relating to display errors must be directed to the relevant platform or payment provider.
Import Duties & Taxes
Depending on your country, import duties, VAT, and other local charges may apply.
For selected countries, duties and taxes can be prepaid at checkout. If this option is available for your destination, it will be clearly shown before payment.
If prepaid duties are not available, local authorities may charge the purchaser and/or recipient upon arrival.
The purchaser and/or recipient acts as the importer of record and is responsible for ensuring that the products can be legally imported into the destination country. This also applies to gift orders shipped to third parties.
If customs requires additional information, DHL or the relevant carrier may contact you directly. Please ensure your contact details are correct and that you are available if contacted.
We recommend monitoring your tracking after receiving the shipping confirmation. If there are any delays, please contact your local DHL office directly for the fastest assistance.
Customs & Returns
Customs policies vary between countries. In rare cases, customs authorities may delay, inspect, seize, reject, or return shipments depending on the contents and local regulations. Please check your local import regulations before ordering.
Please be aware that products of animal origin (such as meat, fish, cheese, or items containing animal ingredients) may be subject to stricter import regulations in some countries.
All orders are fulfilled by export and shipment from Norway in accordance with the customer’s selection at checkout. Once the shipment has been handed over to the carrier, the export service has been completed. Risk transfers to the purchaser and/or recipient upon handover to the carrier in accordance with international shipping practice, regardless of the shipping method selected at checkout.
Delays, inspections, seizures, rejections, or returns caused by customs authorities, unpaid duties or taxes, failure to provide required documentation, or local import restrictions are considered matters outside the seller’s control and do not constitute a failure to deliver the ordered service.
If a shipment is returned due to unpaid duties or customs regulations, shipping costs are non-refundable and return freight, storage fees, administrative costs, or customs-related expenses may be deducted from any applicable product refund.
By completing your purchase, you confirm that you accept responsibility for import compliance in your destination country. Situations arising from customs regulations as described above are not considered a failure of service by the seller.
Any disputes arising from a purchase shall be governed by Norwegian law and subject to the jurisdiction of the ordinary courts of Norway, with Bergen District Court (Bergen Tingrett) as venue, to the extent permitted by applicable mandatory consumer protection laws.
Important – Temperature-Sensitive Products & Transit-Related Conditions
We ship all products without refrigeration. For most international destinations, it is unfortunately not feasible to use gel cooling packs, as transit times and customs handling may reduce their effectiveness. The use of dry ice is generally not possible for standard shipments, as it is classified as regulated or special cargo in air transport and significantly increases shipping costs and handling requirements.
Chocolate, brown cheese, candy, spreads, wafers, cream-filled products and other temperature-sensitive items — including products that may melt, soften, separate, or change texture — may be affected by high or low temperatures during transit.
Delivery vehicles may operate long routes without temperature control. Shipments may also be exposed to varying conditions during air freight, including cabin pressure and temperature fluctuations. These factors are outside our control and must be taken into consideration when ordering.
By placing an order for temperature-sensitive products, you acknowledge and accept this inherent transit risk.
Most deliveries arrive in good condition. However, minor deviations caused by transit conditions do not constitute product defects or shipping failures. In such cases, we are happy to assess the situation and assist where reasonably possible.
We recommend bringing the package indoors as soon as possible after delivery and storing products according to their recommended conditions.
