Heat notice

Dear customers

We want to inform all customers — especially during warmer seasons — about the risk of ordering heat-sensitive products such as chocolate, brown cheese, and similar items.

  1. We always ship products without refrigeration. Our international orders are transported by DHL Express air freight, and maintaining a reliable refrigerated temperature throughout the entire journey is unfortunately not practical for this type of shipment.

Gel ice packs are not suitable for international shipping, as they normally lose their cooling effect long before the shipment reaches its destination. Transit, customs clearance, weekends, and unexpected delays can extend the journey, meaning that gel packs may provide cooling only during the first part of the shipment. Once thawed, they add unnecessary weight without providing any further temperature protection.

Dry ice is also not a practical option for our shipments. Dry ice continuously evaporates and therefore only provides cooling for a limited period. It is also classified as a regulated substance for air transport, requiring special packaging, labeling, handling, and carrier procedures. In addition, the extra weight and special handling can make the shipping cost disproportionately high compared with the value of the food being shipped.

For these reasons, we cannot offer refrigerated or temperature-controlled shipping, even when DHL Express is selected. DHL Express provides fast transportation, but it is not a refrigerated delivery service.

Customers ordering chocolate, brown cheese, candy, or other heat-sensitive products should therefore consider the temperatures both in the destination country and during transit before placing an order.

  2. Most products are meant to be stored between 18–22°C (68–71°F).
If you live in a location where temperatures exceed 22°C (71°F) (or are very cold), we strongly recommend not ordering products that are sensitive to temperature changes.
Norwegian Foodstore and the delivery company are not responsible for melted or otherwise heat- or cold-damaged products outside the recommended storage range.

Please note that temperatures during transport can be higher than the outdoor temperature. Goods can be exposed to significantly more heat inside delivery vehicles, especially when parked in direct sunlight — even for short periods of time.
By ordering such items, the customer accepts this risk.

  3. If you still choose to order products that normally require refrigeration (e.g., brown cheese, chocolate etc.), please cool them down completely before consuming and keep them refrigerated after arrival.

  4. Please ensure that packages are not left outside your home. We cannot replace products that are stolen or damaged due to being left unsupervised in heat or cold. If you choose to have the package left outside, it is entirely at your own risk.

If you are unsure about the products quality before or after recieving it - or have any questions, put products in a refrigerator and contact our support team by clicking here.
