Laban Seigmenn & Seigdamer: Chewy Little Norwegian Treats

Meet the chewy little people

In Norwegian, seig means chewy. Seigmenn are soft, gel-like sweets shaped like little men, and Laban is one of the familiar names on Norway’s sweets shelf. Bright, sweet and easy to share, they bring a bit of fun to the treat bowl.

According to Nidar.no, Laban jelly is set in cornmeal moulds. Once the shapes have dried, the cornmeal is brushed away and each figure gets a roll in sugar before heading into its bag, ready for snack time.

The sweet cast got a new set of characters in 2020: seigdamer, the matching women-shaped figures, joined the bags. Today, both seigmenn and seigdamer come together in the same pack.
